I paid a lot of attention to my free entry today. . . in light of feeling very slow and out of breath. Which made me think of the videos. Which leads me to post another here.
I've been trying to think about entering somewhat close to my head, and not so much extending forward as extending downward. But this video also has me thinking about stroke rate--it looks like the second hand enters while the first is in maybe the last 1/2 to 3/4 of its pull. I don't think I've been doing that!

I too have a bad case of the "turkey sleeps"! But we did have a great thanksgiving, I hope you did as well.
I am feeling the pull to comment on the posted videos. They are all great, however I want to make sure you are focused on the entry and not so much the extension. You will see most if not all commentators pushing a long extension in front because of the increased distance per stroke. This is correct, however at this stage of your training you will set yourself up for injury with a really extended stroke.
This video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AcfrZ51sf0 shows the entry I would like to see for your stroke right now. Play around, see what works.
About arm cycles, being the middle distance athlete that you are right now, I would suggest front quadrant cycling. Your pulling arm should be still in the front quadrant as your recovering hand is about to enter. We can chat about this at the workout on wednesday.
thanks, Julie! I'm catching on. . . .
