Now I can say that earlier in the week--yesterday, for example, there was no way that I could have raced. Today, I was quite a bit better, but still felt like four events were too many. So, I scratched the 400 free--it was a good decision.
Results
100 IM: 1:35*
50 Breaststroke: 52
100 Freestyle: 1:21
*In the posted results sheets, it looks like I DQed. I don't think it was on the start or the back-to-breast turn, because I think the timers would have let me know about it instead of showing me my time. So it must have been on either the fly-to-back turn or the breast-to-free turn. Too bad.
I felt great about my 100 free. I really thought about the race breakdown we talked about in practice, and cut 9 seconds off of my submitted time.
My 50 breaststroke was a little odd--something happened on the start, and I lost track of what I was doing. So the initial pull was wonky. But my turn was okay, and the rest of the race felt good.
Overall, it was really important to do this race today, just to get back into the swing of how things work at a meet. It was fun! And next time, I'll enter more events. There was definitely a lot of sitting around. Today, though, it was just right for me.
Matt and Heather also did really well. Matt had a fantastic 50 free, coming in at :27. Yay!
