It was so strange. All the guards were working hard, there was a rope in when I arrived (I know, only one. . . but it was minus thirtysomething out), and only one other swimmer showed up--someone I haven't met before, and she thanked me later: "it was so good to see your butterfly today," she said. Altogether, it almost makes me believe in miracles. Could they have been angels sent from swim workout heaven? Ah, the spirit of the season.
It looked like this today:
Warm-up (500m): 100m kick, 2x100m drill, 200 swim, all freestyle.
Kick-your-legs-off kick set (200m, but feels like 800m): 8x25 kick, 1:30 rest. This is a kick-as-hard-as-humanly-possible set. I was winded every time. And took the complete 1:30 every time too. My quickest were around :25 (I think one may have been closer to :24), and the slowest was :30.
Some IM (600m): 6x100m IM on 2:30. I was still winded at this point. I came in each time right at 2:00. What's up with that? And I took the full :30 each time to recover.
warm-down (200m): mixed.
===1500m, or 2100m, depending on how you look at things.
